In December of 2018, I found myself recovering from a nasty ski accident which would take a pair of reconstructive surgeries and 5 months of physical therapy. I had never been a runner, swimmer, or biker at any point in my life but I still remember going into my first surgery in early January and telling myself i'd come back this year and end it with a half ironman. My family thought I was crazy, i'd never run a 5k before and hadn't competed in sports since my freshman year of high school, but I felt determined to do this for myself. 11 months later on the 1 year anniversary, I crossed the finish line at Ironman 70.3 Indian Wells and was at a loss for words. I've found an incredible community and passion for the sport and while 2020 hasn't been the easiest year for your first full season of endurance events I'm looking forward to ending the year with two back to back races with two of my mentors from University.
